Changes of incisional sizes during phacoemulsification
Wednesday, January 06, 2010

The prospective observational case series of Dr. Cesar G. Espritu and Dr. Juanchito P. Bernardo, Jr. has been published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. The article entitled: Incisional sizes at different stages of phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lens implantation  can be found in J Cataract Refract Surg 2009; 35: 2115-2120. Their article evaluated incision sizes during the different stages of phacoemulsification and after implantation of a foldable acrylic intraocular lens. They recommend that an incision of 2.3 mm at the start of surgery may prevent wound tears and surface irregularities.
