Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) changes in Ethambutol Toxic Optic Neuropathy (ETON)
Wednesday, January 06, 2010

The case presentation of Dr. Milagros H. Arroyo, Dr. Richard C. Kho  and Dr. Sidney Y. Cheng  in collaboration with Dr. Christopher de los Reyes and Dr. Michael Daquioag has been published in the Philippine Journal of Ophthalmology January 2010. Their article on the effects of Ethambutol on the Optical Coherence Tomographic changes of the optic nerve entitled:"Ethambutol Optic Neuropathy: A case presentation" can be found in Phil J of Ophthalmol Jan-June 2009 Vol. 34 No. 23-27. Their findings show optic nerve sectoral thinning in patients with blurring of vision treated with ethambutol. Further study to determine if OCT can be used as a predictive test for the early changes of ETON is being undertaken.
